About Susan Neiman
Susan Neiman is the Director of the Einstein Forum in
Potsdam, Germany, an institution devoted to a democratization of the
intellectual process. She is currently a Fellow at The Institute for
Advanced Study in Princeton, NJ. In addition to Evil in Modern
Thought:
An Alternative History of
Philosophy, her
books include: Slow Fire: Jewish Notes from Berlin and The
Unity of Reason: Rereading Kant. She is a member of the
Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences.
Evil in Modern Thought, the inspiration for Knowing Evil, won the 2002 Association of American Publishers Award for Best Professional/Scholarly Book in Philosophy and the American Academy of Religion's Award for Excellence in the Study of Religion in the Constructive-Reflective Studies category.
Given the unique relevance of her work to today's world, Susan has been featured on several prominent media programs, including NOW with Bill Moyers. She was interviewed for the film at the Institute for Advanced Study in July 2007.
